Abstract
View PDFAbstract: Fake reviews are intentionally misleading or deceptive online evaluations of products or services that are written by individuals or organizations with the intention of manipulating the perception of the item being reviewed. These fake reviews can have significant consequences for businesses and consumers alike. The detection of fake reviews is therefore an important problem that has garnered significant attention from researchers in various fields. In this review, we examine the current state of the art in fake review detection methods, and identify a range of approaches and techniques that have been developed to automatically identify fake reviews. We also discuss the limitations and challenges of current fake review detection methods, and suggest directions for future research to improve the accuracy and robustness of these techniques.
