C-frame structures are widely used in mechanical and manufacturing equipment. The frame must withstand the applied load with limited stress and deformation. Finite element analysis (FEA) provides a useful method for evaluating the structural response of such components. In this study, a static structural analysis of a C-frame was carried out using SOLIDWORKS Simulation. The model was subjected to a normal force of 200 lbf with a fixed support applied to the supporting face. The material was defined as 6061-T6 (SS), with an elastic modulus of 69 GPa, Poisson's ratio of 0.33, and yield strength of 275 MPa. A solid mesh with a blended curvature-based mesher was used. The structural response was evaluated in terms of von Mises stress, resultant displacement, and equivalent strain. A mesh convergence study was performed using six mesh configurations. The element size was reduced from 0.203 to 0.057 in, while the number of elements increased from 2,118 to 63,345. The maximum von Mises stress remained within 20,967–21,143 psi. The maximum displacement remained approximately 0.0626–0.0627 in. For the initial mesh, the maximum stress was 20,991 psi, equivalent to approximately 144.73 MPa. The maximum displacement was 0.06264 in, or approximately 1.59 mm. The maximum equivalent strain was 1.56 X 10-3. The FEA result was compared with a hand-calculated stress of 20,946 psi. The difference between the analytical and numerical results was only 0.215%. The small variation in stress and displacement during mesh refinement also indicates that the numerical solution is stable. The results show that the C-frame remains below the specified yield strength under the investigated static loading condition. The study demonstrates a simple and reliable approach for evaluating the structural response of a C-frame using SOLIDWORKS Simulation.
